Workshop in Foreign Language Education II

Storytelling is an enjoyable and educationally sound teaching tool for the language classroom. This highly participatory workshop includes a variety of activities which support a creative, communicative classroom. Storytelling can enhance the practice of the “four skills” (listening, speaking, reading and writing), teach  vocabulary, functions and grammar while encouraging cross cultural awareness and personal expression. It engages the "whole learner" and the "multiple intelligences."

THE ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE ESOL CLASSROOM

Many funders mandate fusing ESOL/literacy instruction with broader content, including technology. This workshop focuses on teaching language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and so on and computer skills such as internet browsing for research and website navigation, through an exploration of the arts. By engaging the whole learner and tapping multiple intelligences, use of the arts combined with technology can make teaching and learning fun.
